There are many openings for food service, culinary and baking jobs in the Madison area. The FEED Bakery Training Program offers hands-on training for individuals to learn the building blocks of how baking works. Testing for the FEED Bakery certificate and ServSafe certificate is offered at the end of training. Students learn bakery math, professional kitchen equipment operation, knife skills, labeling and retail customer service training. Students make muffins, quick breads, pastries, scones, cookies, biscuits, Danish pastry, sticky buns, croissants and cinnamon rolls, which are sold in area markets and grocery stores to provide supplementary support for the training program.

The next class is just starting, so contact us right away to register. No personal fee is charged to individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. The 90-day training classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 am–1 pm. Following successful completion of training, assistance will be provided to find employment. Contact Martee at 230-1224 or email coordinator@feedbakery.org for further information.

The FEED Bakery Training Program is a project of the Northside Planning Council. The program operates at FEED Kitchens, 1219 N. Sherman Ave., in the NorthGate Shopping Center. Visit feedbakery.org for more information.
