Hours: 30 hrs/week, day and evening/weekend hours required
Compensation: $15.50/hr and paid vacation, holidays and sick leave

The Northside Early Childhood Zone (NECZ) is seeking a mid-level employee with parent engagement experience for this position. This individual will work out of the NECZ office at 2830 Dryden Dr. Spanish and Hmong speakers are encouraged to apply.

 

Family Engagement Specialist General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing outreach for the NECZ
  • Meet and identify potential parent leaders to help guide the NECZ
  • Act as a voice for underrepresented residents in various NECZ planning processes, committees and teams.
  • Facilitate resident participation in such processes.
  • Participate in the evaluation of NECZ activities and resources.


Specific Duties:

  • Use technology tools as requested: Basecamp, Slack, Google Drive, etc. Seek out training or support when needed.
  • Participate in professional development activities connected to NECZ
  • Complete and submit requested reports, work logs and timesheets in a timely manner.
  • Attend organized community events at neighborhood centers, Warner Park Community Recreation Center, schools, parks or other community gathering places each month to offer referral and connection to the NECZ
  • Establish relationships with Northside residents, schools, neighborhoods and neighborhood centers.
  • Serve on NECZ Action Teams (attend and participate in regular meetings)
  • Attend NECZ team meetings and retreats and help coordinate outreach opportunities for NECZ home visitors
  • NECZ office and admin support for set number of hours per week
    • Staff the open office hours, including telephone and walk-in reception
    • Provide administrative support as needed
    • Participate in coordinated in-take as needed
  • Help identify partner organizations, parent leaders and funding sources; and coordinate development, implementation, outreach and provide administrative support for parent engagement activities, including but not limited to Parent Cafes, parent-child interaction groups and other other community related community events
  • Help conduct outreach and provide administrative support for Ready Set Go! pre-employment workshops
  • Facilitate the development of vision and role of Parent Advisory Council in collaboration with coordinator and NECZ team; and identify and support parent leaders to serve on PAC.


    Essential qualities of a Family Engagement Specialist (FES):

  • Has project planning and implementation experience
  • Has experience with marketing and outreach for community events
  • Is highly reliable and consistently available for a structured work schedule
  • Has access to reliable transportation
  • Should have shared life experiences and be personally familiar with the challenges that affect the lives of Northside residents. They should share similar values, racial and/or ethnic background and socioeconomic status, and they should speak the same language as the people they serve. Spanish and Hmong speakers are encouraged to apply.
  • It is preferable but not required that the FES lives on the Northside
