Congratulations to Terri Ricsha Hatchett, the 2018 recipient of Margaret’s Fund: A Northside Scholarship.

Terri has been a Northside resident since moving from Beloit two years ago. She is the first generation in her family to attend college. Terri has been pursuing a degree in Human Services at MATC, where she made the dean’s list, and will continue on that path this fall.

Terri contributes to the greater good of the Northside as a Neighborhood Navigator, a program initiated by the Northside Planning Council in collaboration with the Northside Early Childhood Zone and the Safe & Thriving Community Initiative. As a Navigator, Terri assists people in overcoming obstacles that may be keeping them in isolation, providing them with connections, resources and relationship building. Through her job, Terri helps address barriers in neighborhoods and assists people with tools that may make long-term differences in their lives and in the community. Her degree in Human Services will allow her to continue this work in community service.

Terri is the 10th annual recipient of the Margaret’s Fund scholarship. The other awardees, all Northsiders, are: Tara Hoffman (2009), Nicole Tackes (2010), Stacey Yang (2011), Omobolanle Kikelomo Olumbi (2012), Chekwube Obieze (2013), Melissa Marie Alexander (2014), Aminata Bojang (2015), Felicia Jones (2016) and Vanessa Kana (2017).

Margaret’s Fund is a scholarship established in 2007 to support residents of Northside neighborhoods who are pursuing higher education. The award goes to a graduating high school senior in odd years and, in even years, to an adult returning to an interrupted education.

Margaret’s Fund is professionally managed by the Madison Community Foundation. Donations are tax deductible and very much appreciated. Learn more at Please join us in congratulating Terri Hatchett as the 2018 Margaret’s Fund awardee.
