When we heard the news about Jim's Meat Market, it was hard to believe that the Northside would be losing such a beloved business and part of the community.
What will you miss most about Jim's? Any favorite memories from this beloved Northside business over the years? Was it a daily lunch stop or a treat for summer grill-outs and holiday dinners? What made Jim's such a special Northside business?
Many years ago, when I was a student at Shabazz High School, my friends and I would pretty frequently pile into one of our cars and go to Jim’s for lunch. Always delicious, super affordable, nice employees. We loved the place, and I’ll miss it! Thanks for the memories Jim’s Meat Market!
UPDATE: The changes to the two Northside polling locations passed. The changes are:
Ward 31 (Brentwood and Sheridan Triangle) moves from St Paul Lutheran to Lakeview Library.
Ward 32 (Sherman) moves from Packers Avenue Townhomes to Goodwill. ----- NPC recently learned that a change of two Northside polling locations will be discussed at tonight's City Council meeting.
If the Council suspends rules to accept the proposal without a process for public input, the changes could go into effect this Spring Primary.
Our letter to the alders urges a fair and comprehensive review of the polling locations, including how the proposed changes might impact communities of color.
"The choice of a polling location can either enhance or dampen residents’ voices. The Northside Planning Council supports the right of residents to actively participate in decisions made within the community. Any change that can affect how residents voice their opinions, especially at the ballot box, should be made with thought, oversight and sunlight."
This evening from 6:30-8:30pm in the Goodwill Community Room, County Supervisor Michelle Ritt, Alders Rebecca Kemble and Larry Palm, and Madison Police Department North District will host a community information session on recent gun violence in the North District. ... See MoreSee Less
